SHELLI'S FLOWER PIN TUTORIAL!!!!

I saw this on a blog tonight and thought it was so fabulous, that I had to share with you! It is how to make the pin that Shelli made at convention in August! The tutorial is HERE at Pennie McCallum's Blog!

Shelli's Flower Pins by Pennie McCallum:
Did you attend convention this year? Did you see the Flower Pins that Shelli made? Did you want to make one? Me Too! So I did! Here is one of them that I am going to show you a "how to" that I did, and then I'll show you some more of the ones I made. ANY OF THESE PICTURES YOU CAN JUST CLICK ON THEM AND VIEW THEM LARGER!

1) First, select your fabrics, I like a real mixture - anything from denim to satin brocades.

2) Next, cut out the flowers you want - sorry this picture came out very yellowed. I actually did not use 4 of the smallest flowers in this picture (see above).

I used 2 sets of four flowers in the 2nd largest size for my base (see above).

3) Fold your first two flowers in half and overlap them at right angles to each other - I took a stitch or two to easily hold them into place (recommend this highly - see above).

4) Now add your third flower (folded in half) and overlap the bottom section with the previous flower (again make a stitch or two - see above).

5) Watch this step closely - you are adding the final - the 4th flower (lightest greenish gray one in this picture) to this layer. Overlap the bottom two petals of this folded flower with the dark green flower. NOW, carefully pick up just the first flower (denim top) and carefully slide the new layer under the denim. Still with me? Now add another stitch or two.

6) Now you are going to start a whole new layer - I used four more of the same size flowers (if you are making one, you can choose to do more of the same size or start a smaller flower layer - hey it's your pin - you design it). I am starting this layer with the red flower (stitch again with each flower addition in my opinion).

Continue around with the second layer until you have added the four flowers, weaving the last flower under half of the first flower as in the previous layer just as in Step 5.

7) Here is what my completed 2nd layer looked like (see above).

8) I continued my layers in the same manner (picture below shows pin after the fourth layer, before my final layer is added).

Aren't these cool? Now go to her blog and she will tell you the fabrics she used and the amounts! Tell her Renee sent you! She is very talented and I am so happy she shared with us! SHE ALSO HAS MORE SAMPLES TO L O O K AT! WOOHOO FOR PENNIE!

I have made so many cards and projects but cannot size them or lighten or darken them due to losing my Photoshop program in my computer crash. I am trying to learn some other programs, but they are just not the same!?!! Boo hoo for me!

Great Way to Hang and Display Your Cards!!!

I saw this on the Martha Stewart website and thought I should share it in case everyone did not see it. This would be a great way to display your cards and creations for your customers to see, at a craft show or just in your craft room!

Here is the How to:

1) Wrap 14-gauge wire tightly around a 1/2-inch wooden dowel 3 times to create a loop; measure 5 inches along wire, and repeat, continuing to wrap and measure until you have 5 loops along 20 inches of wire. Snip off excess at first and last loops.

2) Form a diamond shape: Bend wire at loops, overlapping first and last. Using flat-nose pliers, twist 28-gauge wire around overlapped loops to secure. Repeat to make 3 more diamonds.

Using nails, hang diamonds on wall in a larger diamond configuration. Slip in business cards, photographs, seed packets, and anything else you want to have handy.

I have some great cards I made today and as soon as I get them sized, I will post them for you. I lost my Photoshop program during my Memorial Day computer crash so I use the computer upstairs to re-size them, then email them downstairs to my laptop and THEN I finally get to post them. Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoyed the Royal Blog Tour. We were limited to 4 pictures, so I had to take some of my pictures down for the tour. Now that it is over, I can share the insides of the cards and tell you a bit more about them. FIRST I want to thank my new subscribers and SECOND - I want to thank everyone who left a comment on my creations. Ya'll just MADE my WEEK! I used the "Hello Again" Stamp Set that is brand new in our catalog. I wanted to show different uses for a small stamp set so this is what I came up with! I hope you enjoy my samples.

Card One - I used the Soft Suede Designer Paper with Vanilla Card stock. I really like this new DSP!

Here is the card opened up!

Now for Card Two - I used the Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry Papers. I accordian folded the bottom part and used it on some of the circles for texture. These colors are so bright! I am adjusting! He He

For the Inside - I just wanted something fun and funky!

Card Three - I used Bermuda Bay Card Stock with some of the Soft Suede Designer Paper. I used my white gel pen to make some stitching and the centers for the little flowers. I made the big flower with the scallop punch. I love the crushed curry ribbon and flowers. I punched out the butterfly and then stamped it on each side to give it some pazazz!

I just stamped a bit on the inside for interest. I hate making cards where I forget or run out of time (last minute me - always late) to put something cool on the inside!

And My Final Card - I changed it a little bit so that the front and back were identical. I used the Bella Bleu #113974 - isn't it pretty?

Here is the inside of the card where I popped up all of the butterflies and the flower on the front with crystal effects. It is shiny in person!

Hubby Has Been Woodworking AGAIN!!

EDITED 7/21/09 - I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THE PICTURE IN THE ALBUM IS MY OLDEST SON, ERIC AND MY PRECIOUS 4 YEAR OLD GRANDSON, KALE! I LOVE THEM DEARLY! YES BRANDON (MY YOUNGEST) I LOVE YOU TOO!!!

I showed my husband a picture of a 6 X 6 Photo Frame Holder that a demonstrator had sent to me to show him what we were talking about just in case he wanted to make one for me and everyone else! Well ........ you should all know by now what an over achiever he is - LOL! He made the most beautiful and unusual piece AGAIN! He doesn't see what we see and I sure don't see what he sees (I guess that is a good thing)? Here are some pictures of this creation he made out of hard maple with a walnut rod and no nails, or screws! He even made a trek over to Hobby Lobby and purchased the 5 pack of plastic sleeves and I had some ring binders here at the house. This is his master piece! TA DA!

The Most Beautiful Custom Made Project For ME!!!

About a week and a half ago - several people on LNS were talking about storage for their stamp pads, re-inkers and markers. There were some samples posted and links posted to where you could purchase some. I told my husband about them and he said he would make me one! *Bonus* I showed him some pictures and gave him a stamp pad, a re-inker and a marker and he went to town. Now I thought he was going to make something that everyone would want and would want to purchase from him. Everything he makes as a Master Craftsman Wood Worker is so amazing and I am not sure why I thought he would come up with something that the everyday SU person would want to or be able to purchase! No - NOT MY HUSBAND! Everything he makes has to be quality, almost perfect and a work of art! He came up with the most beautiful piece of furniture you can imagine! It is made out of cedar and probably weighs about 20 lbs. and he even left the "natural look" of the cedar on the bottom piece for me to enjoy. Take a look - isn't he amazing??? I am very lucky that he loves me so much!

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men
who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors,
and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army;
another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or
hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes,
and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
Eleven were merchants,
nine were farmers and large plantation owners;
men of means, well educated,
but they signed the Declaration of Independence
knowing full well that the penalty would be death if
they were captured.
Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and
trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the
British Navy. He sold his home and properties to
pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British
that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
He served in the Congress without pay, and his family
was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him,
and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer,
Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that
the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson
home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General
George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed,
and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.
The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.
Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill
were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests
and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his
children vanished.
So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and
silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: freedom is never free!

I hope you will show your support by sending this to as many
people as you can, please. It's time we get the word out that patriotism
is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer,

Disaster Has Struck!!!

Hi everyone - Sorry I haven't posted anything lately. My computer crashed and burned on Saturday and I lost everything - AND I mean EVERYTHING! All of my email files are gone, all of the pictures of the wedding flowers and cakes I have done the past 6 years, the pictures of my precious grandson, all the templates, tutorials, projects I had saved, etc. etc. etc. Everything was wiped out and I have to start all over! I now have a totally blank computer! I had saved about 20 pictures and had written 5 tutorials with pictures - ALL GONE! *Big Sigh* So - I am starting over and will have to redo everything, but I wanted to let you know I am down but definately NOT OUT! Please send me an email so I can add everyone back into my email list! That is very important to me! Thanks and have a great week. I hope to see you soon!

Wow - Peroxide - Every Home Should Have Some!

Did you know that ???

"I would like to tell you of the
benefits of that plain little old bottle of 3% peroxide you
can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors don't tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars."

1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe)

No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash. (Small print says wash mouth and gargle right on the bottle)

2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of "Peroxide" to keep them free of germs.

3. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.

4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

5. I had fungus on my feet for years - until I
sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, or plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your
nose into a
tissue.

9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.

11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help get rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors, and there is no smearing which is why I love it so much.

I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner.

I have left my creations up using the stamp set HEARTFELT THANKS! This set is very special to me as my upline and Stampin' Up! Mom, Linda McClain gave it to me when I signed up as a demonstrator! I used Heartfelt Thanks Rubber Stamping Set from Stampin' Up! on both of my cards and my picture frame.

I found this cute polka dot paper in the Pink Flamingo Designer Paper Series and HAD to use it! I used the Top Note Die Frame (leftover part) to make the inside of the card for something different. I used one of the stamps to make a background for the center and after stamping and putting crystal effects on it, I decided to make a pink tissue rose for it. I used our buttons on the bottom to add some more white and add some dimension! I hope you like it!

I found this frame at Hobby Lobby for $1.49 minus my 40% coupon - I couldn't find anything else I wanted! Imagine that? Anyway, I covered the frame with our designer paper and used my utility knife to cut out the 3 X 3 photo slots for these precious puppies that just turned 6 weeks old today! I added little love knots and ribbon around the photos; then stamped the flowers in Bashful blue and then Night of Navy. I cut them out and glued the big one onto the divider and then used dimensionals to pop up the other two flowers. The puppies will be going to new homes next week and I will miss them terribly, so I decided I needed framed pictures of them! You guys may have to console me when they are gone as they are such a delight to have around! I will miss their puppy kisses and puppy breath! *Sigh*

THE MOST DANGEROUS CAKE IN THE WORLD!

Why you ask - well - it is very rich and addictive so you might as well add some ice cream on top! He He

THE MOST DANGEROUS CAKE RECIPE!
A RECIPE EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT!
Cake recipe:

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high).
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this THE most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Lining Wedding Envelopes!

I saw this on Martha Stewart and decided I just had to share it with you! This would make wedding invites and their envelopes look spectacular!

A skillfully lined envelope hints at the elegant invitation inside.

Tools and Materials:
Decorative paper
Ruler
Bone folder
Paper cutter
Scrap paper
Glue stick

Lining an Envelope How-To
1. To make an envelope liner, measure the width of your envelope, and subtract 1/4 inch. For the length, fold back the flap of the envelope, and measure from the bottom of envelope to tip of flap, just under the gummed strip. Using a paper cutter, cut a sheet of paper to these dimensions.

2. Slip the paper into the envelope, and fold the corners down just below the glue line, using a bone folder to create sharp creases. Remove the paper from the envelope, and cut off the corners along the folds.

3. Insert liner sheet into envelope, and fold down flap. Lift up the envelope flap, keeping the liner folded. Slip a piece of scrap paper under the liner flap to protect envelope from glue. Run the glue stick over the edges of the back of the liner.

4. Slip out scrap paper. Close down the outer flap over liner, and rub with fingertip to adhere glue to flap.

Make envelope liners to match the theme of a wedding. Print lacy patterns, bright colors, photos of the bride and groom, and more -- the options are endless.

I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I have been CrAzY busy and loving it! I had a Mother's Day Make and Take Sunday and Monday and a party on Sunday night. I met some really nice people and had fun making cards! This week I got into the SpRiNg ClEaNiNg mode and have been airing out the house and cleaning away! I came across a very interesting article I wanted to share with you. Here it is!
Bounce This Along!
The US Postal service sent out a message to all
Letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.
Use them all the time when playing baseball and
Soccer. I use it when I am working outside. It really works. The Insects just veer around you.
All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!
1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.
22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe love bugs off easily with the wet Bounce.
23. If you can't find your embossing buddy, use a Bounce sheet!

There are many different types of demonstrators and you don’t have to decide when you join what type you want to be - you can start as a hobby demonstrator and then progress to a business demonstrator and even go back to hobby if you need or want to - Its all up to you how much or how little you do and you are rewarded along the way if you meet set targets sales.

Here we have the different types of demonstrators - maybe one describes you?

Discount Demonstrator … likes to be able to get stamps and supplies at a discount and will occasionally sell to family & friends.

Short Term Demonstrator … sells products for a short term to earn a set amount of money and quits when that particular goal is reached.

Hobby Demonstrator … loves doing workshops for fun and earning extra money when it’s convenient. Works when time permits - does a lot some months and little other months. Likes to do workshops that are easy to book and doesn’t like to work too hard to book workshops.

Career Demonstrator … Views her Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator ship as a viable business with long term benefits and goals; pursues management and wants to move up the career ladder; loves to attend Stampin’ Up!® events and develops long-standing friendships with other demonstrators and works at her business at a consistent and outgoing manner.

So if you can see yourself as one of the demonstrators above - or even if you don’t, as I never saw myself as one – if you love to create cards, gifts and scrapbooking and make new friends and could use a bit of extra cash to spoil yourself or just to save for something special like a new car or vacation, then Stampin’ Up!® is for you!

I loved how easy it is to rub the flowers on the card and ribbon and the words Happy & and Summer on the card stock.

The second picture is of a small gift bag in Ruby Red with a Bashful blue Bow. See the beautiful butterfly Rub On right there on the scallop circle? Cute Huh? I added another Rub on to the bottom with the lines and the word LOVE. Easy and Quick!

I Just Have To Share My Puppies With You!

My little Imperial Shih Tzu had puppies 3 weeks ago and we took a picture of each of them this week. They are soooooooo adorable! They have their eyes and ears open and the little girl gives me sucking kisses on my nose. The little boy is so sweet and loves to be cuddled, so that is what I do as often as I can. I just wanted to share with you how cute and cuddly they are!

The picture of the little girl, AnChi is a bit fuzzy as she was moving - imagine that!!?

The picture of the little boy, 3 Socks came out much better as he is very laid back.

The Astonishing Susan Boyle!!!!!

I am sure all of you have heard of Susan Boyle! If not - wow - you are really missing out! She appeared on the British version of American Idol which is called Britain's Got Talent and was a major astonishment as well as extremely talented. The blog posted on You Tube has had over 42 million hits as of this morning. The things that I love about her is this:

1. I believe the message here is two fold. One should never judge a book by its cover. I know personally when my husband and I saw the beginning of this video, I am sure most people were thinking how bad this act was going to be. The best part is we were completely surprised and awe struck at her performance (especially Simon’s reaction)

2. When you really want to, when you truly believe in yourself, everything and anything is truly and absolutely possible.

Hi everyone! I have finally had some time to stamp and that is GrEaT!

I am starting to work on Mother's Day cards and then I just had to share a couple of cards that I made a while back. With all of the weddings, I did not get a chance to take pictures of them or post them!

I used all Stampin' Up Products in these 2 cards and I have to say I am addicted to Dazzling Diamonds!

AND

I just got this picture of my grandson last night and I wanted to share with you!
His name is Kale and he is 3 1/2 years old. He LoVeS to stamp with me! I will have to show you some pictures next week of him stamping away. He has carribean blue eyes, but they did not show up in this picture. *Bummer*

I wish I have had more time to stamp, but weddings have been taking up all of my spare time! I am not complaining as I love each and every one of my Brides. I just haven't had time to get glitter in my hair or ink on my fingers! There is a lot of clutter that I am proud of though. LOL. Here are the pictures of the weddings I have made cakes, flowers, and sugar flowers for so you can see what has been keeping me tied in knots!

15 Stamps for $8.50!!!! Friendly Words Wheel

Just think! You can get 15 stamps for $8.50!! How, do you say? Buy the Friendly Words wheel on page 81 in the IB&C and divide it up by each saying!!

Lisa took the wheel and cut them out, and now has each saying ready for stamping.
To cut them apart, she used an exacto knife and a cutting mat.. To stamp them, she got an acrylic square and used that with a little bit of adhesive on the saying she wanted to stamp. You can't beat this deal!! I LOVE to pass on great ideas. Thanks for stopping by and see you soon. Renee
